Lawmakers With Too Much Time on Their Hands

The Drudge Report highlights a story about a Florida legislator who has introduced a bill to ban the term "illegal alien" from state documents.

The poor offended woman says "An alien to me is someone from out of space." Perhaps she needs an English course.

And so we have one more example of Nanny State lawmakers who want to ban everything that could possibly offend anyone.

This lawmaker prefers "undocumented immigrant" in official documents...so in this matter we also have someone who wants legislation banning the state from telling the truth.

Anyday I await representatives from some hostile planet to arrive in their cigar shaped UFO and attend a Senate Committee hearing where they will lodge a formal complaint about the term : "space alien". Reporters will breathlessly announce that backwards views about our "unregistered otherworldly visitors" are out of vogue, and that Bill Clinton should immediately meet with them as Otherworldly ambassador to discuss their terms. Al Gore will tag along to bring them copies of an Inconvient Truth and discuss with them ways to diminish their carbon footprint, er... or whatever appendage applies.
