Today at Disneyland

We enjoyed a quick visit to Disneyland this afternoon. It was great to relax and unwind for a few hours at the end of a busy week.

It still looks summery at the Hub...

...but you can also tell Autumn is just around the corner:

...with Fall on display in one of the shop windows:

Have a good weekend, all!

Jen and I are planning to go Monday afternoon and then again the following Monday when all the decorations are officially up and Mansion reopens. We would go Friday but she has a new job.

Nice dusk photo :)

What do you think of the new 2009 promotion - What Will You Celebrate?

I'm not wildly enthused...though I was interested to read yesterday that people will be admitted for free on their birthdays. What do you think?

I'm looking forward to heading out again soon to look at the Halloween decorations. I don't do Haunted Mansion (grin), but I'm looking forward to checking out the new seasonal popcorn buckets and travel mugs, which I enjoy collecting. Inexpensive and practical!

Best wishes,
Laura

I love this time of year at the park with first the Fall decorations and then the Christmas ones. I understand the back side of the castle will also be dripping with lights this year :)

I like the new promotion as far as it goes. The idea of letting people in for free on their birthdays is great, though not everyone will be able to take advantage of that if their birthday is a work day. If people are planning a trip with others around their birthday then Disney will get their money! I also like that for us pass holders we will have our choice of three things: A $69 gift card to be used only on our birthday; a fast pass thing similar to the current Dream fast pass; or a ticket good for admittance to the park good for one year from that date (if you decide to let your pass expire, I guess). Also, one needs to remember that you just can't show up at the park on your birthday. You have to register online first and take the confirmation they will send you two weeks before along with a valid ID in order to get in free. I'm not all that sure that that part has been made clear and I can see a lot of unhappy people at the turnstiles!

My daughter is not planning to renew her pass in December but will go for free on her birthday in May. I may renew at the lowest price and will go in November (2009)and get the gift card. (We're saving $$ for our WDW trip in April)

I'm not too keen on the music for this promotion. I've clicked on some of the links mentioned in a thread on MiceChat. We're also getting a new parade. I like Parade of Dreams but I will reserve judgment on the new one.

Irene, that is tons of great info you have shared with us. I've not spent as much time as usual on Disneyland sites recently, due to the press of time, and was unaware of the $69 gift card promotion. I will have to print out the details and be sure we each follow the rules to the letter and take advantage of it. :)

How long will you be spending at WDW next spring? You'll have a great time!

Best wishes,
Laura

We're flying back on the Saturday before Easter (not the best but it's the only time I can go due to working at a school) and coming back the following Friday. I had originally planned for us to fly home on Saturday but found it cost $100 more. With the money saved on that I went with the Park Hopper tickets. We are also taking advantage of their Magical Express service. We are staying in a standard room at All Star Music.

Magical Express is terrific! I hope you'll love it as much as we do. I've used it twice now.

On our first trip we had to rent a van just to get to WDW (it was cheaper than several alternatives I investigated), turn it in there, and rent one again for the drive back to the airport.

Now it's sooooo easy! And the magic starts right at the airport, about the time you get in the line marked "All-Star Music" and see the buses waiting for you outside the window. From that point you can just sit back and relax until you're checking in at your resort. (There's a fun video they show on the ride to the resort.) I know you'll have a marvelous time!

If you can swing it, try to have dinner one night at Chef Mickey's. I just love the festive, cheerful atmosphere and besides, it gives you a great chance to explore the Grand Canyon Concourse at the Contemporary. :)

Best wishes,
Laura

Yipes! I made a mistake on my post regarding the requirements for the birthday admission. On MousePlanet today they say one is encouraged to register but IT IS NOT REQUIRED!

My bad :)

Everything is nicely summed up on their Disneyland Update today. I'm sure other Disney websites will also have details now.

Thanks for the additional info, Irene. I may do a post on the new promotion myself, once I check out the details. :)

Best wishes,
Laura
